Every now and then, the world provides a good example of someone finding success after following their dreams. Sometimes we find them compelling, or they may spawn a tiny jealousy, but whatever the case, we gain a little drive to chase something that we've always wanted. Here's the first of (hopefully) many stories that I'll present. Hopefully, it will spark something in you.
Christina Perri
A little over a year ago, few knew of songstress Christina Perri. She wasn't really on the radar (culturally speaking). Working as a cafe manager, she struggled to follow her musical goals in off-times and spare hours. Like so many others, she dreamed of taking her hobby to the next level.
Then, something really great happened. That all changed.
From www.christinaperri.com:
Everything took off from there. Her music aired on the radio, she was interviewed on television, and she got herself a whole new net presence at her own .com. The public began to notice her.
Over the past year, she has worked and grown in popularity. Christina released her first album, lovestrong
, on May 10th of this year. It debuted at Number 4 on Billboard's Top 200.
Songs are little things, a couple of minutes to the listener, but they have great power. They can change our moods or our minds. They can represent momentary flashes of inspiration or lifetimes of trying. Most of all, they can transform the lives of performers, song-writers, and musicians.
I think this story is a good one. I hope you can find inspiration from it.
Oh, and way to go, Christina!

"In July 2010 . . . she was asked to perform a song she had written, a defiant break-up anthem called “Jar of Hearts,” on the Fox show So You Think You Can Dance. The raw, emotional quality of her performance connected with viewers and catapulted the 24-year-old Philadelphia native into the public eye. “Jar of Hearts” went on to sell a million downloads . . .
